our dark universe is a velvet eternity school for love #thedailyhaiku 10

We watch diamond-bright stars glinting like tiny jewels set with precision and perfection in an inky, indigo velvet sky and it takes our breath away. Darkness of night always makes the light shine brighter than before. Every shaded thing makes brighter colours sing.

And as we gaze into the heavens, or look closer to home and observe tiny pearlescent beads of dew coating flowers and leaves,  and ponder just Whose caring hand is behind every created thing, we become filled with awe, wonder and gratitude towards our Creator-God for spilling His treasure so lavishly on earth.

Each plant and flower, every drop of rain that falls, all the shining stars and lustrous planets in the universe are tokens and expressions of God’s great Love being made manifest for us. There is spiritual intent behind the daily graces we often take for granted.

Earth can seem so dark at times, filled with so much sadness and pain, yet these symbols are significant in revealing God’s steadiness and faithfulness, as He holds them out to us as a holy offering again and again. In the seeing, with eyes renewed by faith, we begin to trace His love spilling forth in large ways and small, just as we are meant to do.

  1. “In the seeing, with eyes renewed by faith, we begin to trace His love spilling forth in large ways and small, just as we are meant to do.” Oh this is so true. As we receive His light and love, the darkness dispels and we see more and more of His beauty and truth.

Blessings to you, dear Joy! I love your haiku! Love and hugs! xoxo

    • Gayl, you have blessed me with these words: “As we receive His light and love, the darkness dispels and we see more and more of His beauty and truth.” Amen, my friend! That’s exactly what happens. I adored your haiku offering today. In fact, I loved it so much I left a duplicate comment by mistake. Oops! 😏 It’s lovely to see your new theme at work. It all looks very professional too. I might get the hang of such a site one day! Blessings of rest, peace and lots of creative inspiration to you. Love and hugs! xoxo 💜

      • Joy, I’m so glad to have blessed you. That is a blessing to me. 🙂 I’m glad you enjoyed my haiku, too. I saw the duplicate comment and just deleted one of them. I really like this theme, too, and I didn’t really have to do much to get it up and running. It has more features which I haven’t learned yet, but maybe some day.

I need some creative inspiration today. Or maybe I just need some time to sit quietly and ponder and listen as I write today’s post. Thanks so much for all your encouragement and your sweet comments. Blessings, love and hugs! My you also find peace, rest and creativity! xoxo

      • Gayl, I’m glad you were able to delete the duplicate comment and you are finding commenting easier for your readers with the new theme. I have stuck with the same one for ages with Words of Joy, being a creature of habit and techno-phobic that I am! Getting to grips with self-hosting was quite an ordeal, so I tend to want to leave well alone if everything is functioning as it should. Several technical glitches rather scared me off from changing things. But now you’ve got me wondering if a fresh look might be a good idea. Mmmm…
I hope and pray that renewed inspiration comes soon and you benefit in other ways too from taking the time you need to be still before God. I love how we can support and encourage one another in our creative pursuits. Thank you for continuing the conversation here. xox 😊

      • What helps is that you can install several themes without activating them. Then you can get a live preview and play around with them to see what they would be like. Once you’re done and exit it, nothing has changed on your current theme. I tried a lot of them and one by one eliminated the ones I didn’t like.

Thank you for reminding me about taking time to be still before God. I was just having trouble writing today’s post and took a break. I read your comment and realized I had not had my time with God today. So I’m going to do that right now. I, too, love how we can help and support each other. Blessings and hugs! xo

      • That’s helpful to know. I had forgotten about the preview options before you decide. Thanks, Gayl! I LOVE your current theme. Would you mind sharing which one you went for? I’m grateful for your thoughts and awed by hearing how time spent here reminded you to seek to be with God. Blessings, love and hugs to you, dear friend! xox ❤

      • Thanks for the heads up! I just tried the free version of plum and wondered how to get the social media icons on the header, as well as my name and copyright details at the bottom of the page instead of the standard ones. Did you buy the pro version by any chance? Please don’t worry about replying here. We can DM one another instead, okay? 🙂 xo

  2. My heart says “Amen!” Our Creator-God surely does spill His lavish treasures on the earth. When we can see His caring hand behind everything He has created, it gives such comfort, doesn’t it? May we continually be in awe! Thank you for reminding me to not lose sight of God’s love and faithfulness even in the midst of darkness. Love and hugs to you, Joy!

    • Oh yes, Trudy, the signs of care and attention are everywhere and they bring us comforting thoughts of God’s constant presence with us! It’s a challenge though to live in awe, to have our eyes continually open to heavenly things. We tend to be such earthbound creatures, with minds glued to ground, focused most on the daily tasks before us, who often need a wake-up call to help us lift our head and the eyes of our heart upwards! Thank you for being here, my friend. Love and hugs to you! xo 😊💜

    • Amen, Tara! We never stray far from those magestic verses in the first chapter of John, do we? They are so wonderfully descriptive of Christ being the Word made flesh and the Light of the world. 😊💜

    • Indeed, my friend, it’s what you are always seeking to see and sense in your beautiful daily prayers. They lead the reader deeper into the things of God, drawing them irresistibly toward the Light of His presence. Bless you, Michael! ❤

  3. Dear Joy,
Again, I love how your graphic and words fit together so well! And this: “Earth can seem so dark at times, filled with so much sadness and pain, yet these symbols are significant in revealing God’s steadiness and faithfulness, as He holds them out to us as a holy offering again and again.” The stars and the moon do shine so brightly against that velvet night sky, don’t they? We need that school of Love that can only be taught from within this veil of darkness where we now dwell. I am so thankful that He finds such precious ways to teach us! Love and Hugs, my friend! xoxo

    • Dear Bettie, I actually started off with a different graphic entirely but soon changed my mind and sourced this one instead. It does seem to suit the theme of this post and I’m pleased you think so too! And I love these words you’ve shared: “We need that school of Love that can only be taught from within this veil of darkness where we now dwell.” Amen, my friend! Sometimes the way we learn doesn’t feel very comfortable to our souls while it is happening, but it yields fruit beyond compare. Love and hugs to you! xoxo ❤
