By quiet waters

 ‘By quiet waters’

Father,

Lead me by quiet waters

help me to be still

to follow in Your ways

instead of my own will.

Let me abide peaceful

resting by the stream

where Your grace flows freely

as on Your strength I lean.

May I heed Your word

and the truth which it imparts

bringing wisdom to my mind

and peace within my heart.

“The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake” ~ Psalm 23:1-3

    • It can be so hard to do, can’t it? Yet so worthwhile whenever we make the effort and God speaks soothingly in the silence. Praying you will find that quiet space and place in your life, my friend. Xx

  1. This is a much appreciated reminder of what we all need at times , that quiet place to be with our shepherd and if we are listening to his voice he will lead us there and give us a time and place of rest .

    • Yes, listening is so important to be able to hear the gentle Holy Spirit nudge to come away for a while and rest with the Lord. Thank you, Maxine! I appreciate you stopping by to offer your insights. Blessings 🙂 x

  2. Resting by the stream where your grace flows freely…
This is a recurrent image at the moment for me, Joy. The river of grace, the trees on the banks whose roots drink in the sweet water. It’s just about all I can do to lie on those banks and listen to the stream. Thank you so much for this beautiful poem.

    • Helen, to “lie on those banks and listen to the stream” is a great place to be. It sounds like you’ve already stilled your heart and positioned yourself just right for the “river of grace” to flow through you. Abiding in the space where God can speak and we can soak in His Presence will bring deep refreshment to our souls. Stay and enjoy it, my friend! 🙂 x
