splash: your creativity is waiting to be released #thedailyhaiku 13

Inspiration strikes us in numerous ways. For me, it’s more of a gentle, mellow listening to my life and the things I read than having striking eureka moments. Suddenly, a situation, word, line or sentence will create a response, often drip by drip or with a welcome splash.

Creativity is latent in us all, waiting to be ignited, fired up and ready to go. Though the triggers may vary, the process usually excites, stirs something recognisable in us, makes us feel alive and energised.

That brief spark, immersion or gentle splash are all welcome. All play their part in encouraging us to create, unleash the God-given abilities deep within. On the inside, I’ve always been a scribbler, storyteller and poet. But there were many years when you wouldn’t have known it. My abilities lay dormant.

I doused the flame of creative enjoyment and enthusiasm with my own insecurities. Life’s trials and tribulations (later providing great creative fodder) were like a huge boulder pressing down on me, squashing any faith I had in being able to create.

What changed? I did. On the inside. Or rather, God changed me and transformed my thinking, gave me courage, confidence and strength to share my words publicly. Yes, the negativity still shrieks at me on my worst days. I feel inadequate for the task. But even a small splash of grace can set me back on my feet again. And He will do it for you too, my friend! 🙂

  1. Crying at these words today:
“But even a small splash of grace can set me back on my feet again.” Oh what a compassionate Father we have, what a loving Savior. So, so true Joy – it’s all it takes on those days we feel like we can do nothing right – He breathes His Power into our screaming weakness and shows us the beauty of the Masterpiece He is creating. Thank you for your encouragement, for being honest – you are such a kindred soul.

    • Oh, Anna, what a gift of grace to have moved you to tears! You certainly affected me emotionally with these words: “He breathes His Power into our screaming weakness and shows us the beauty of the Masterpiece He is creating.” Yes, that’s exactly what it feels like! Thanks for sharing how this post has spoken to you today, my friend. May the creative floodgates be opened anew as you write out your heart thoughts. It’s an honour to be kindred sisters together! Blessings and love. xo 😊💜

    • It works wonders when we do remember to pause and listen, doesn’t it? Then it makes us wonder why we seem to be so deaf to God sometimes. Although He is always speaking out His love for us in small ways and large. Thank you for sharing, Michael! May you have a blessed weekend. 😊💜

  2. Dear Joy,
I found these parallels to be so amazing in your writing today: “just a splash of Grace,” and then comes “a splash of words.” What a lovely joining together, especially when I have had such a day of negative emotions myself! He truly does bring those splashes to us, lifting us and showing us the real TRUTH that we should look at. I am so grateful that He never gives up on us, but brings us right back to our CENTER with Him! Love and Hugs to you, my Sweet Friend! xoxo

    • Dear Bettie, let’s aim to have a splashing time no matter what the weather or how much we long to simply huddle under the duvet. Our activity with puddles could be of the spiritual battle kind, whereby we don’t allow obstructions to impede our progress. And then we can allow the rain of God’s grace to wash over us until we become saturated with holy peace and courage, fortitude and strength. What do you say to that, my friend? I’m keen to don my wellies and dance in the puddles if you will join me there!
Seriously, I am grateful beyond measure when you find a takeaway blessing in my words. God is good to make much of these little snippets yielded to Him. Sending lots of sunshine, love, hugs, joy and peace to you this weekend! xoxo 😊 💜

  3. Joy, I’m so glad your abilities didn’t stay dormant! You have blessed me many times with your words. It also took me awhile to begin sharing my words and later poetry on my blog. It does take courage, but God gives us that courage, mercy and grace we need. And when we share our struggles, too, I think others are encouraged to keep trying, too!

Blessings, love and hugs to you, dear Joy! xoxo

    • Gayl, it’s good to know we are also kindred sisters in this! I’m grateful for your words as well, my friend, and for the Holy courage to share them. It’s lovely to be able to encourage one another on this creative faith journey. Blessings, love and hugs to you! xoxo 😊 💜

  4. As I try to catch up on posts of the last few days, this one really resonates with me, Joy. This is so true for me – “I doused the flame of creative enjoyment and enthusiasm with my own insecurities.” And I’m still a work in progress. But how comforting it is that even a “small splash of grace” can get us on our feet again. Thank you for encouraging me today. I’m sorry I can’t keep up with posts that come out every day, but know you are spreading hope! 🙂 Love and hugs!

    • Trudy, it’s always good to see you here whenever you can manage it, and a double blessing if you find a takeaway nugget that has spoken to you! But there is absolutely no obligation or expectation that you will stop by every day. This series is a bit of a marathon for me, never mind my readers. Thank you for encouraging me as we pass the half way stage and hit the home straight! Love and hugs to you, dear friend. xo 😊 💜
